How to use this house edge calculator

If the game footer says RTP 99%, type 99 in Stated RTP. House edge fills in as 1%.

If you only have house edge, type that. RTP fills in as the rest.

Set Stake and Number of bets if you want expected loss on a session, not on one unit.

What the numbers mean

RTP is return to player, as a percent of money wagered, over a huge sample.

House edge is 100% minus RTP.

Expected return is stake times bets times RTP.

Expected loss is stake times bets times house edge.

A negative house edge means the published math is player-positive. That can happen on a promo price. It is still not a promise you win the next round.

The formulas

House edge = 1 − RTP.

RTP = 1 − house edge.

Expected return = stake × bets × RTP.

Expected loss = stake × bets × house edge.

Worked example

A house original lists RTP 99%. You wager 100, one bet.

House edge = 1%.

Expected return = 99.

Expected loss = 1.

Ten thousand bets of 100 at 1% edge is 10,000 expected loss. That is the long-run mean. Variance can bury that number for a long time.

Is a 99% RTP a good game?

It is a 1% edge. That is low for a casino product. It is still negative EV. Rakeback and lossback change the net number. This page does not add those.

Why is my session not matching the calculator?

Expected loss is an average. A 1% edge on 100 bets of 100 is 100 expected loss, not a lock. Short samples swing.

Does this use a brand RTP from Gambling Gods reviews?

No. You type the number from the game or the help page. We do not invent RTPs.
